It has been a couple of years since I actually stayed here but it's usually only a couple of weeks (or most times just a couple of days) between food and drink visits when I'm in town. This place is awesomely hip. Art sprinkled in the hallways and public areas screams "it's only rock and roll, but we like it."
When I was looking to book a room here I was debating between the Crash Pad (their least expensive option) and a Superior Room. I decided to opt for the Superior Room because I was spending a week and thought the extra space would make more sense. LOVED this room! A big four poster bed with crisp linens, purple accents everywhere and a nice big closet to stash luggage in (oh, and I shopped a bit...the closet helped with that too) but, I'm not gonna lie, this bathroom was da bomb!! Tiled in iridescent mosaic tiles it was hollering the coolest vibe. The shower served up hot water almost instantly and the towels were the softest and fluffiest I have ever encountered in a hotel.
The rooftop terrace offers up an awesome hangout complete with hot tub, adult beverages and food. It is open to the public but hotel guests have special benefits (like that hot tub - no outsiders in there) and 24 hour bar service. There's the resident gorilla, Ace, who was actually stolen a few months back. A pretty brazen theft as he weighs 100kg and is six feet tall. But all is well as he was returned two weeks later (after widespread media coverage...I mean, how do you hide a giant fiberglass ape for long?) and is happy standing guard over the hot tub.
So, let's talk abut my food and drink visits. Wild Heart is the on site restaurant/bar that's open all day for breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, cocktails and afternoon tea. I've been known to wander in for any of the above (with a strong emphasis on the cocktails part) sometimes solo, sometimes with friends in tow. The food is scrumptious and the Grey Goose Cosmopolitans are served in copper martini glasses, keeping them amazingly chilled to the last sip. Service levels are top notch here too. On a recent visit, my waiter came over to check on me as I was finishing lunch (and a cosmo) to ask how I was doing. He had a bottle of water that he set down for a second. I looked at it, he looked at me and said, "Oh, this isn't for you. I wouldn't dare suggest to insult you like that." Yep, definitely my kind of place.
Perfectly located at 20 Warwick Street, Karma Sanctum Soho is just steps for Regent and Carnaby Streets and a stone's (no, not a rolling one) throw from Piccadilly Circus. The details here are rock glam...skulls, art, crystal encrusted door handles...all the perfect rock and roll touches...without the pretense. Couple that with sophistication, high level of service plus menus and cocktails to please every palate and you've got a winner.
In my humble opinion, this place might just classify as Rockstar Heaven (rumor has it that one of the partners is a rock band manager....huge rock band....like huge. wink)
